Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band is comprised primarily of eighth graders and continues to emphasize the fundamentals of playing wind and percussion instruments, as well as music reading. Symphonic Band students will perform for assemblies, Pizitz football games, winter concert, district assessment, spring trip contest, and spring concert. Students in Symphonic Band are encouraged to participate in different honor bands around our area and will also have the opportunity to compete in Solo and Ensemble festival each spring.
Concert Band
Comprised of seventh and eighth grade students, Concert Band continues to emphasize the fundamentals of playing wind and percussion instruments as well as music reading. Concert Band students will perform for Pizitz football games, winter concert, district assessment, spring trip contest, and spring concert. Students in Concert Band are encouraged to participate in different honor bands around our area and will also have the opportunity to compete in Solo and Ensemble festival each spring.
Beginning Band
Comprised primarily of sixth grade students, Beginning Band focuses on the fundamentals of playing wind and percussion instruments as well as music reading. Beginning band students will perform a mini-concert during the fall semester, a wintet concert, and a spring concert. Students are also encouraged to compete in Solo and Ensemble festival each spring.
Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion Ensemble is comprised of a select group of seventh and eighth grade students who are also members of our Symphonic and Concert Bands. The Percussion Ensemble focuses on the fundamentals of percussion including rudiments and scales. Students also focus on All State etudes and percussion ensemble literature. Percussion Ensemble members will perform for assemblies, winter concert and spring concert. In addition, these students comprise the Pizitz Drumline which performs at pep rallies, football games and several community functions around the Vestavia Hills and Birmingham areas.
